Genuinely disgusted by the way we were spoken to and treated today by Sharon, I believe it was. Booked in over the phone for a standard tent pitch, with no electricity, clearly stated and repeated twice that we were a family of five bringing along two dogs, absolutely no mention of any of that being an issue. Turned up on the day to a fairly frosty bloke saying he needed to 'check' with his wife where they'd put us. Five to ten mins later a woman pulls up in a tractor, looking through the windows of our car like were something she'd trodden on, shouted down my partner greeting her with 'hiya, you alright?' with 'right, you've got two dogs so you need to find somewhere else to stay' bearing in mind I'd seen a handful of dogs with owners whilst we were waiting to be checked in. Thankfully for us we're regulars at Hill Farm who instantly told us to go and settle in there so we didn't waste what we thought would be a nice little family break. Hostile and overpriced, wouldn't waste your time or money.

It's a very basic camping and caravaning site, however, in our opinion, as we have camped extensively over the past 50 years, this site needs an injection of funds and enthusiastic management. Ablution blocks were only cleaned once a day, and on one occasion only when prompted by a complaint. Location is good. We were lucky with the weather as well.

Stayed here for 3 nights, camping in a tent as we were attended an event at the nearby Elvaston Country Park which is 5-10 mins walk away. We were put in a large field which was reasonably quiet other than the sound of the road at night. Ground was fairly level and well drained although drainage seems to be aided by rocks about 4 inches under the ground. Because of this, it was very difficult to peg the tent down effectively. We ended up with about 8 bent pegs and for the ones that went in all the way, many had to go on such an angle that I wouldn't have trusted the tent to stay put should the wind have gotten up. We called upon arrival as there was nobody in reception and a very pleasant gentlemen came to take our money and tell us where to camp. He didn't however tell us where anything was; toilets, bins etc were all needed to be found for ourselves. The toilets and showers near the reception; whilst dated, were adequate, and we did see them cleaned. Hot water pressure was low from taps though so came through at a trickle and if you have a shower, don't leave it too late as we did end up having a luke warm shower later one evening. We never found the 'luxury' toilet block. All in all it was easy to find, conveniently located and adequate to throw your tent down for a night or two to get your head down. It isn't luxurious, but then you're not paying the ridiculous price that some campsites are asking these days.

Tiered run down pot holes dirty toilets not cleaned no hand wash all weekend! In desperate need of some TLC, such a shame could be a great place again. Especially when you pass the £200k work of vehicles parked up, it was £25 a night last year with electric hook up this time £35 a night absolute rip off!

Lovely campervan site. Abolition block quite far but kept clean by staff day and night. We had a lovely time
