Welcome to Chalky Downs Campsite, a beautiful and serene camping spot near Brighton. This rural retreat offers a scenic escape with its stunning vistas and friendly, welcoming atmosphere. Whether you're planning a short walk to Brighton or a relaxing day in the countryside, Chalky Downs offers a great blend of convenience and tranquility.

Highlights and Tips:

  • Beautiful Location: Set in an idyllic rural area, the campsite offers breathtaking views and easy access to both Brighton and the South Downs.
  • Facilities: The site is equipped with clean and simple toilet and shower facilities, although the hilly terrain might require some walking to access them from certain spots.
  • Convenient Access: A short bus ride or drive will take you right into the heart of Brighton, making it easy for campers to enjoy city attractions and local beaches.
  • On-Site Amenities: Enjoy fresh water, a dishwashing station, and the possibility to order breakfast and coffee straight to your tent.
  • Nature and Wildlife: Being on a farm, you'll have the chance to see friendly animals such as sheep, plus there's potential for sea fishing nearby at Brighton Marina.

Important Considerations: Note that the campsite is situated on a slope; flatter spots can be rare. Additionally, while the facilities are well-maintained, shower pressure may be low during peak times when multiple showers are used concurrently.

Overall, Chalky Downs Campsite is a highly recommended choice for campers who appreciate nature, beautiful views, and friendly service. It gives you the best of both worlds—peaceful rural charm with the conveniences of Brighton just a stone's throw away.

Stunning campsite with lovely, hospitable and warm hosts. The toilets and showers are simple but super clean, there's the most delicious fresh water, you can order breakfast & coffee to your tent and the site itself is beautiful. We walked to Brighton in about 40 minutes which was great and drove to Rottingdean beach in roughly 10-15. Can't recommend it enough, will definitely be back!

This is a great campsite, lovely and rural. Showers and toilets are always clean, views are mega! Bus is 5 minutes walk from campsite and takes you straight into Brighton. We had breakfast one day and it was lovely. Highly recommended

Great location on the South Downs - you quickly feel you are in a rural location but easy walking or travel to Brighton and Rottingdean or South Downs routes. Shops nearby for everything. Simply and efficiently run by friendly staff so you never run short of phone charge, fridge/freezer use or logs for your fire pit. Great sunsets across rolling fields. If you like sea fishing you have quick access to Brighton Marina too. Other campers typically friendly people, appreciative of nature. (Lots of people with bigger tents than mine if you need to bring one).

This is my second year camping here and I love it! It’s very close to Brighton town centre which is easily accessible (15 mins drive/30-40mins bus). There’s a large car park, excellent facilities for bathrooms and showers which were all kept very clean. It’s on a farm so at the top there are some adorable and friendly sheep and many other animals to see. The view is to die for with its sweeping valleys and fields. It doesn’t feel like being in Brighton at all it’s like a countryside grassy haven! One thing to note is that some of the camping spots are at the bottom of a fairly steep hill so you do have to walk up and down to get to the facilities. You can drive your car down the hill to load and unload then park in the car park. There’s also a dish washing station and a fresh water tap for drinking so pretty much everything is covered here. Each plot seemed to have a fire pit also on request. I couldn’t recommend higher, it’s the best campsite I’ve ever stayed in! Everyone is very friendly and it’s beautiful.

A large site with friendly owners. Could have done with more showers as there were only 3 and the 3 next to each other by sink couldn't be used together as the pressure was too low so the water would go go cold. The site is all on a slope, so it's hard to get a flat spot, but the grass was all well mown. Very peaceful with a lovely sunset. Everything was well maintained.
