Cuckoo Farm Campsite

Stayed here for few weeks in total now while working away and is a great family run campsite. Owner and the staff on site are so friendly and helpful, they always remembered me. The facilities are excellent, one of the best I’ve seen at a campsite. The dish washer was great and so useful to bulk clean items. The farm shop had a great supply of meat straight from the farm. Internet available across the whole site. Very peaceful atmosphere. I will definitely be staying here again, Highly recommend!

A gorgeous campsite situated next a river and accommodated the children who like to play in it with a safe rope swing and a swing in a nearby tree for those that prefer one on land. Great washing facilities, regularly cleaned and even a dishwasher that we used a couple of times! Love the location on a farm and surrounded by great scenery. Those are the good parts. The site is very hilly, hard to find a spot that is flat. But the worst part is that group bookings are allowed. We had a massive group of parents arrive camping in front and in the field behind us, the parents would sit in a circle at the tents in front of us, drinking while the many number of children from both sides would play in front of us. Their ball constantly coming to our side so our children couldn’t play any sports, my daughter was on the toilet and one kid came in our tent. The noise was horrendous from morning to night. Meal times were stressful. We dont mind the noise of children but when there are around 20 at one time ringing too and from their tents, parents shouting for them from next to our tent and interfering with our personal space and other campers around us is not acceptable. There should be a separate area for campers that have made group bookings so they can all stick together and leave the families and other campers to enjoy the camping experience without interference.

We had a lovely stay and the facilities were great. The site was very busy and the noise levels were pretty high for two of the three nights which was older kids shouting and screaming or babies screaming (the babies can’t be helped though). Good site for older kids but probably less so for small ones with open water and noise levels.

What an absolute gem to have found this organic farm in the rolling Rutland landscape!! We arrived to bright sunshine and made our way down the track to the check in desk, showers & loos and found Andy who helped us find everything we needed as well as a swift check it process! We made it up to our spot on the top of the slope and pitched up our tent overlooking the whole campsite in the evening sun☀️ The showers and the loos are excellent, clean and there’s even a dishwasher too if you’ve been cooking! Overall a lovely experience and one no doubt we’ll have to experience again, thanks for the memories‼️

This is a lovely family friendly campsite. Positives: Shop that provides essentials, stream with rope swing, nice shower blocks, beautiful setting, easy to find, indoor games space (more suited to teenagers), plenty of shade and space (not over booked), friendly goats, sheep and beautiful deer onsite. Negatives: shop closes 11-1, about 70% of the site is on a mild slope, we struggled with things falling off tables a lot, a long-ish walk to the facilities if you’re pitched at the far end Missing: other campsites we’ve visited in the past have offered washing machines, fridges, entertainment, pizza night or equivalent
