About This Campsite

Ecclesden Farm Caravan & Camping

Ecclesden Farm Caravan & Camping is a delightful spot nestled in the beautiful South Downs. It's known for its expansive fields, perfect for a family getaway or a peaceful retreat with friends. The campsite accommodates tents and caravans and is known for its dog-friendly environment, making it a fantastic destination for pet owners.

Facilities and Features

  • Spacious Pitches: The campsite offers ample space, ensuring you never feel cramped even when the site is full.
  • Modern Sanitary Facilities: The showers and toilets are commendable, available 24/7, and often cited as the best among campsites in the area.
  • On-site Shop: A shop on the premises offers reasonably priced essentials for your stay.
  • Kids Park: A playground is available, making this a great spot for families with young children.
  • Fire Pits: Available for hire, although some find the pricing for these and the wood a bit steep.

Considerations

  • Traffic Noise: The proximity to a busy road means potential traffic noise, but it's manageable and does not typically disrupt sleep.
  • Current Roadworks: Be aware of possible roadworks on the A280 that might affect access to the campsite.
  • Litter Management: Some minor issues with litter on the campgrounds, although they're generally well-maintained.
  • Water Temperature Issues: Occasionally, the washing-up water has been tepid due to water pressure issues, but this seems to be an exception rather than the norm.

Overall Thoughts

Ecclesden Farm Caravan & Camping is widely appreciated for its cleanliness, spaciousness, and the friendly management team that ensures visitors have an enjoyable stay. While there are minor issues, like road noise and occasional tepid water, these are outweighed by the superb facilities and welcoming atmosphere. It's a great choice for those looking to enjoy the countryside with family, friends, and pets.

A wonderful field to camp in with a park in the middle. Staff are really nice and plenty of stuff in the shop. The fire pits are a rip-off. pay to use pit £12 pay for kindling £6.50 pay again for wood £8 1 bag lasts 1/3 hours. You get a few camping snobs up there, not wanting you to camp next to them but are easily ignored. The camp itself has great shower and toilet facilities and we felt safe in the evening.

Back from a fantastic family weekend camp. The site was very busy but because the pitches are so big, it never felt crowded. The toilet and washing up facilities were kept spotless, despite the amount of use. John and Jo run it so well and make it a joy to camp there.

Cracking camp site, the best facilities I've come across and I've stayed in many campsites across the south. Plenty of nice hot showers and toilets so you never have to wait for a shower. Very reasonably priced shop on site too. The entire site is just clean, free from litter and very well maintained. Thank you for a lovely stay.

It was £13 a night for a tent and car (no electric but you can pay more for electric). There is quite a busy road near the campsite so there is some noise from traffic throughout the evening and night but not enough to stop you sleeping. Check-out time is 2pm. There is some litter left behind on the campgrounds which I cleaned up myself on my site. The toilets & showers are open 24/7 and are pretty good and fairly clean. Shower rooms are individual and enclosed. They are probably the best showers I've seen at a campsite. Be aware of current roadworks on the A280 that may prevent access to the campsite (September 2024).

This campsite is in a great dog friendly location in the South Downs. The farm has ample pitches, a kids park and spotlessly clean toilets and washing facilities. The reception staff were very helpful and the site was really tidy. Only slight downside was that the washing up water was tepid but the staff had warned us that they were having water pressure issues. Other than that the stay was fantastic and I will definitely be returning.
