We had booked a hard standing pitch but hadn’t expected a slab of concrete barely big enough for a small camper van. Pitches are very small and question whether they meet current legal requirements. This is supposed to be an ‘adult only’ site but for 2 of the 3 nights we stayed there were families, with children, staying there so definitely NOT ADULT ONLY. The surrounding grounds are lovely but the campsite is very cramped, facilities clean but not adequate for the number of pitches. The ‘Priory and grounds’ are open to the public so lots of noise during the day from children clambering all over the ruins or splashing in the river. As for the supposed views from the campsite, ours was of the car parking, bins and shower block…..lovely…Not…. Definitely won’t be returning….

Fabulous place in a serene setting. Toilet block facilities are modern clean and heated with free showers. Grounds are maintained on a daily basis and site staff are so friendly. Gas eggs honey available fresh at the site cafe and gas. Only negatives to point but I'm only pointing these out to give a rounded review and would not put me off coming here again, some of the pitches can be a little challenging to level up on. Some of the pitches are 10amp but 16amp pitches are available. Overall great site at a good price in a beautifully location, looks forward to returning in the near future.

Stayed three nights lovely park washing up room could be larger. It’s about one hour ten minutes walk to Durham which is okay on a nice day (we enjoyed it) lovely walk along the river abbey ruins if you like that sort of thing I give the site nine and a half out of ten staff friendly

Good communication from the owner pre- visit. Great location, the site is spotless with all facilities in full working order. Lots of walking opportunities and right by the abbey ruins which are also lovely and free admission. Highly recommend.

Some pitches could be larger and a bit more level. As some are very bad which look like they have just been done why not make them level when doing them But this is a lovely quiet site .walks along the river and the Abbey are special amenities and very clean and well maintained
