About This Campsite

Forest Edge Camping

Forest Edge Camping offers an immersive outdoor experience in a serene natural setting. This campsite is popular for its welcoming atmosphere, picturesque environment, and variety of accommodation options including traditional camping pitches, yurts, and bell tents.

Facilities & Highlights

  • Well-maintained toilets and showers that have garnered praise for cleanliness.
  • Solar-powered hot showers for a sustainable touch.
  • Pitches cleverly integrated into the landscape to enhance the feel of nature.
  • Spacious group pitches, great for families or groups of friends, with plenty of room for activities.
  • Campsite borders a wild meadow with lots of butterflies and birdlife, providing a genuine outdoor experience.

Important Considerations

  • Check availability of electric hookups as it appears they may not be present.
  • While the yurts offer comfortable accommodation, they lack facilities like cooking and phone charging, so come prepared.
  • Proximity to Sidmouth offers additional activities, such as seaside outings.

Overall Thoughts

Forest Edge Camping is highly recommended for campers seeking tranquility and a genuinely natural camping experience. The courteous and helpful staff, especially individuals like Sarah and Andy, enhance the stay with their warm hospitality. While some facilities are basic, they are clean and serve the purpose well, making it a preferred site for many returning visitors. One minor point to be aware of is the limited amenities in the yurts, which might not fulfill all 'glamping' expectations. Nevertheless, it remains a delightful spot for those eager to enjoy the great outdoors.

Really nice campsite. Clean, quiet, well spaced out spots. Toilets and showers were decent and well maintained. The staff were very helpful, Sarah was great. Mix if campervans, tents, yurts for hire. Fresh water taps etc. I don't think there were electric hookup pitches but worth checking. Great spot.

Stayed for 2 nights with a group of friends. 6 adults and 6 kids with 3 large tents. We were given a group pitch which was enormous. The site is beautiful. Very friendly people who run it. The pitches are cut into the longer grass. Loads of room for kids to play. It's close to Sidmouth where we went to play in the sea. Would definitely recommend and would love to come back.

Lovely campsite with pitches boardered with natural grass and plenty of space. Lots of butterflies and birdsong. Facilities are basic but adequate. Hot, solar powered showers. Bell tents available le for hire. We went on a nice woodland walk nearby. Andy was very welcoming and friendly. Would stay again.

We have just returned from this campsite and what can I say if you’re looking for 5 star utilities then this is it. There are exceptionally clean toilets and hot showers on sit, the owners are lovely and nothing is never too much. The campsite is cut out into a wild meadow and gives you a real sense of the outdoors. I must say one of the best sites I have camped on thank you for having us we will be back. Love Sian and Tina

Lovely location, nice yurt and comfortable beds, but no facilities like cooking, phone charging etc. So not exactly glamping.
