Key Information

Type: RV Park, Tourist Attraction, Park, Lodging, Point of Interest, Establishment

Tips and Considerations:

  • Perfect for exploring Belfast, but be prepared for some noise due to its proximity to a busy road. Light sleepers might find this a challenge.
  • Pitches are generally level and decently sized, offering a comfortable setup for campers.
  • The park's location provides easy access to local restaurants and shops, making it convenient for visitors.
  • Plan to use showers later in the day when the water tends to be warmer.
  • Administratively managed by the council, some visitors report inconsistencies in rule enforcement and waste disposal facilities could use an upgrade.

Overall Thoughts

Loughshore Caravan Park is an operationally convenient location for visitors aiming to discover Belfast while enjoying a pleasant stay by the Lough. Visitors should be mindful of potential noise and plan their shower times accordingly for a more comfortable experience. Despite some reported administrative setbacks, many find it a few nights' stay worthy for its strategic location and base facilities.

Originally booked for one night before the early ferry. Stayed for three nights as I wanted to explore Belfast. The park is very well equipped with water, grey disposal and EHU on the pitch. Showers and toilets well kept despite there being no warden on-site. The washing machine is out of order, not a problem for me but maybe for others if they need it. Pitches are if a decent size and looked to be all quite level. Biggest downfall is the road, it is an extremely busy road from 5am right through to midnight and beyond. I can actually sleep through most things but if you’re a light sleeper then this may not be the place for you. Back to the showers, it may depend on how busy it is but I went for a shower around 9am and the water was lukewarm at best. I put it off until afternoon and it was much better. So either get up early or wait until later. Another peculiarity was the refuse situation, most sites nowadays have recycling facilities and I’d have thought being council run that this would be the case but no, everything into one skip!

Used to be a hustling and bustling wee Spot to get a Ice Cream or a Burger and Chips from the Burger Van and sit on the seafront but not anymore, Belfast City Council doesn't let any Food Trucks into the site to serve to public has went downhill in atmosphere over the years 👎

When we arrived for our week stay the site was full of travellers, and we are by no means discriminative of anyone, but we asked for a refund due to their intimidating behaviour after we stayed one night !. The staff were afraid of them and we were informed by the park administrator from the council they wanted to stay all summer !. When we complained we were expelled from the site with immediate effect and told our code for the gate was no longer in use and the staff in the cafe woud let us out of the park. As we were leaving they moved one of the travellers caravans into our space. Therefore, even though the staff were afraid and knowing our concerns they allowed them to stay. The council administrator demonstrated that they had no control by giving us a refund instead of alternative dates as per the site rules and I use the term " rules " loosely ! We got the impression that as long as they got the money they didn't care less. The plans for the new Loughshore Park would need to include measures to keep users and staff safe or its going to be a multi million pound travellers camp.

Great site if you want to visit Belfast. Good facilities and a lovely park overlooking the Lough. Restaurants and shops within easy walking distance. Access is via a code and an electric gate. The only downside is the noise from a nearby busy road, but you can't have everything.

We stayed here after coming off the ferry from Scotland, and so glad we had a booking as our ferry was delayed by several hours and there were a few MH’s trying to find somewhere to stay. Our booking was for MH1 in the corner and luckily the fence reduced some of the road noise, especially the metal manhole lid when heavy vehicles went over it. The showers and toilets are ok, it would be nice if other campers respected them and left them clean. Each site has water, elec and a lid for a grey dump hose. We used as a base for several days exploring Belfast, bus was easy and ensure you get a return ticket as cheaper.
