This is very much a work in progress. Driving down a narrow lane from Exeter, the entrance is incredibly hard to spot as the sign is facing away from you and is basically a small, hand painted board. Parking is on gravel in two barns with building machinery all over the place. It’s a long walk down to the woods to find a pitch. I didn’t meet the owner until after I had found my pitch and come back to the car park to get the rest of my gear. The facilities, I’m afraid, were completely inadequate. One compost toilet that was frequently blocked by campers not following the instructions and one shower that didn’t look as though it had been cleaned for some time. At one point, including myself, there were nearly a dozen campers on site using these facilities. This just wasn’t acceptable. I did not raise this with the owner (I appreciate these things take time to construct), but the website gave me to understand that I would be arriving at a fully functioning campsite run by professionals. This, I’m afraid, comes across a someone’s hobby project. I hope they improve things because, with some work, it could be an excellent place for people looking for an alternative from the commercial sites.

Wow. What a magical place. The camping pitches are nestled in the forest amongst wild grass and flowers. Great showers and very useful little open kitchen. Fire pits at every pitch with wood freely available. Very handy for a stop over on the way to Cornwall as only 5 minutes from the A30. Just beautiful.

Came down here to camp for one night in the rain and had so much fun! The location is super close to the town so you’re never too far from anything you need. The tent pitches are tucked away under some big trees that provide shelter and have a good distance between them so feels nice and private. Luke is really friendly and positive and provided us with coal and wood that we forgot to pick up. The nature is stunning with a field of cows right next to us. There is a little sheltered kitchen area to cook / hang out, and showers and toilets on site. Despite the terrible weather we had a blast being outside cooking and roasting marshmallows on the fire. 😊

We only stayed at the rainbow retreat for one night, but boy were we sad to leave. There is a bit of trek between the parking and camping but gosh is it worth it. The woodland site is magical and picturesque. The owner was super helpful and explained everything to us. Its fairly new and we were told there was more to come, and we'll be back for sure

Hidden little gem of a campsite in a small woodland. BBQs fire pits are provided, hot 🔥 shower availabile and a little kitchen area. Pitches are spread out so your not on top of one another. The site is About 15 minutes drive/taxi from Exeter St Davids. We walked into Exeter during the day took us about 40 minutes. Host are welcoming. we can't wait to return.
