This campsite offered a peaceful retreat from the city, despite its proximity to London. Living off the grid meant minimal distractions and a return to simpler living (note, packing a torch is recommended!). The secluded location was quiet and peaceful, with only the occasional plane sound from Gatwick disturbing nature's harmony. The staff were incredibly friendly and helpful, explaining everything we needed to know and being available if we had any questions. The campsite was a decent size, but they also have a larger sister camp if you're looking for more space. Not much to do outside the camp, but we were there just to relax. We had a lovely surprise when we saw the steam train running along the campsite. It was a unique and enjoyable experience. Just be prepared for chilly evenings, especially in the autumn. Overall, this campsite is highly recommended if you're seeking a tranquil getaway from the city.

We stayed here last week for 2 nights and we had the most amazing stay! The location is beautiful and there is a fantastic amount of space for the children to play and explore. The facilities were clean and well maintained and the bucket shower is a wonderful experience! The wardens Jess and Lewis are two of the nicest people you will meet. They were incredibly helpful and welcoming to everyone who came in. They encourage the children to play and have fun and keep the campsite looking beautiful! Before we had even left the kids were asking when we could go back!

My 8 year old and I spent two nights here at the end of Summer. The location is easy to reach from London, but feels like a world away from the hustle and bustle. The fact there is no electricity means the peace and quiet of this magical woodland setting is maintained, yet the hosts provide everything you need, so it’s perfectly balanced between low-effort camping and peace and quiet, unlike some Glamping sites which feel like Holiday Parks! The Wardens being on site 24/7 was really reassuring as I was travelling solo with my 8 yo, not that we needed to bother them during our stay, but knowing they were there in case of emergency was great. We received a warm welcome and once we were shown around and how everything worked we were then left to relax, explore and soak in the beautiful surroundings. I would 10/10 recommend if you’re looking for somewhere peaceful, quiet, in nature but close to attractions to keep the family entertained during the days, look no further!

A perfect little hidden gem of a campsite. Very welcoming and everything we needed to enjoy being in beautiful surroundings. Magical woods for the children to explore and even a steam train occasionally puffing past which was an amazing sight to remember! Great location with lots to explore within a short drive and some lovely country pubs nearby. My children loved the bucket showers and being pushed in the wheelbarrows! Even the beds were comfy!

Another great stay at Wild Boar. Owner was super nice and all the rules were very clear. Love the fact that it’s a back to nature campsite in the woods with no music allowed. Listening to the owls is much better! No need to bring anything other than a bit of bedding which for the price is great. I apologise the girls were awake and loud so early yesterday though, thankfully for all of us they were much quieter this morning.
